Location: Derry / Londonderry (Foyle Haven day centre)
Salary: £28,040 per year

Hours: 35 hours per week, varied shifts

Total Care Recruitment is recruiting a Case Worker on behalf of a cross-border charity supporting people experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.

Foyle Haven is a day centre supporting men and women aged 18 and over. It provides a low-threshold, harm reduction service including meals, showering and laundry, Needle and Syringe Exchange, drug and alcohol support, and recreational activities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide professional, respectful and person-led support.
• Assess needs, safety and wellbeing; identify risks and develop plans to reduce them.
• Create and review flexible support plans with service users.
• Support people to engage with services, stabilise their circumstances and settle into accommodation.
• Develop and review resettlement plans, providing practical support through transitions.
• Work with external agencies; advocate for service users; provide community outreach as required.
• Respond professionally to challenging behaviour and people in crisis.
• Maintain accurate client records, reports and incident documentation.
• Follow health and safety, IT security and data-handling policies.

Essential qualifications and experience (one route):

Route 1: Level 3 qualification in a social care field (e.g. Diploma in Health and Social Care) plus at least two years’ paid experience working with vulnerable women.

Route 2: At least three years’ paid experience working with vulnerable women, plus three Level 2 qualifications including Maths and English (e.g. GCSEs).

Experience supporting women leaving prison is desirable. Enhanced Access NI and NISCC registration required. For community outreach: valid driving licence and car insured for business use.
